Proposal: Film Institutions

The type of institution chosen for the production and distribution can have a major effect on the commercial success of the film. Since our film is an independent, British production. It would be expected that the chosen distributor is UK based, with previous experience in working with British Independent Romantic Dramas. This would similarly be expected from production companies.

Production:

Our production company is Frozen Productions:
We produce up to 5 films per year in our London based company.
Specialises British features, independent productions with the genres including: Drama, Romance and Mystery.
Our graphic logo would consist of a close up of a clock with a twitching hand.

Distributor:

Our preferred choice for the distribution company is Entertainment Film Distributors:

They are UK’s leading distributor in Independent films, founded in 1978.

They operate in the UK and Northern Ireland and different platforms.

Main Genres: Drama, Romance, Comedy, Thriller, Action

110 Drama titles E.g. “Lassie”
48 Romance titles E.g. “Silver Linings Playbook”
Examples of Films: “A little bit of Heaven”, “Something Borrowed” and “I hate Valentine’s Day”
Films they distribute which have similar themes to our film:
“A Little Bit of Heaven” AND “Silver Linings Playbook”

In order to reach other potential markets, we intend to sell the European distribution rights excluding the UK, to Studio Canal; because they distribute 50+ films throughout Europe per year as well as having an in-depth knowledge in regards to the European markets media preferences.

Funding:
We will receive finance from ‘Funding for first-time directors’ which is provided by the British Film Industry.

Release plan:
Limited release in independent cinemas (Hackney Picture House, Rio), DVD releases, online releases through Netflix, Blinkbox, etc. and aired on TV channels (Channel 4)
